At Indrakeel Tours & Travels, we believe the greatest lessons lie beyond the classroom. Recently, we had the privilege of guiding the energetic Class 11 Science students for School trip to East Sikkim from PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Dentam, on a spectacular 2-day winter expedition through East Sikkim. This journey through Zuluk and Gnathang Valley was a breathtaking adventure they will cherish forever.

Day 1: A Scenic Ascent and a Chilly, Promise-Filled Evening
On day one of School trip to East Sikkim, we kicked off our Himalayan adventure early from Dentam. Our vehicles, buzzing with excitement, navigated the scenic route through Jorethang, Rangpo, and Rongli. Furthermore, the long drive flew by as students snacked on sweet local oranges and enjoyed a delicious lunch stop in Kirney.
As we ascended towards Zuluk, the air turned noticeably crisp. Consequently, a light evening sprinkle greeted us upon arrival, adding a magical chill to the atmosphere. Instead of dampening spirits, however, this cold welcome filled everyone with hope for snow the next day.
We immediately settled into our cozy homestay, where we warmed up with steaming tea and crispy pakoras. The students then embraced the chilly evening wholeheartedly, transforming the homestay into a vibrant hub of music and laughter with an impromptu karaoke session. Later, a hearty dinner of chicken curry, fresh vegetables, dal, and chutney satisfied all appetites. Finally, we rested, eagerly anticipating the great day ahead.
Day 2: Snowy Dreams Come True at Gnathang Valley & Tsomgo Lake
We woke to a partly sunny sky and a bracing temperature of 4-6°C. After a quick morning tea and a brief exploration of the local village, everyone enjoyed a solid breakfast. Subsequently, we headed towards our first stop: Thambi View Point.
Unfortunately, a thick fog shrouded the famous zig-zag roads, limiting our view. Therefore, we made a quick decision not to linger and instead proceeded towards Gnathang Valley.
This decision led us to the absolute highlight of the tour. As we climbed higher, we encountered a stunning winter wonderland. A fresh, thick layer of snow blanketed the landscape! Spontaneously, we stopped the vehicles, and the students erupted with joy.
Simultaneously, the fog magically faded, revealing a crystal-clear blue sky and the awe-inspiring, majestic peak of Mt. Kanchenjunga. The students immediately rushed to play in the snow—for many, it was their first time! They threw snowballs, took countless photos, and created core memories in that pristine white valley.
Afterward, we continued to the iconic Tsomgo (Changu) Lake https://indrakeeltours.in/destinations/gangtok/changu-lake/. The students stood in awe of the serene, frozen lake set against a dramatic mountain backdrop. By 1 PM, tiredness and hunger set in, so we guided the group to a pre-arranged café near the lake where they devoured a freshly prepared, hot lunch.

A Heartfelt Conclusion to an Epic Journey
With exhausted but happy hearts, we began our return journey to Dentam around 2 PM, successfully dropping off every student by 8 PM.
This tour was more than a trip; it was a vibrant adventure that blended education with pure exhilaration. The students’ infectious energy made this journey incredibly memorable for our entire Indrakeel team as well.
Ultimately, we extend our deepest gratitude to PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Dentam, for trusting Indrakeel Tours & Travels with your students’ journey. We are honored to have been part of this incredible experience and look forward to guiding your next adventure!
